History

In addition to the permanent exhibition of the Modern Hungarian Gallery in Pécs, which presents the history of Hungarian fine art from the Nagybánya School to the present day with masterpieces, a temporary exhibition of more than 150 works by Ferenc Lantos will be on display, covering a wide spectrum of his oeuvre. In addition to the works in the collection of the Fine and Applied Arts Department of the Janus Pannonius Museum and those donated by the artist to the Municipality of the City of Pécs, the exhibition also includes works on loan from private collections, presenting the internationally significant oeuvre of Ferenc Lantos and the richness of form, technique and variation of the different periods of his life's work. The visual language of elementary, geometric motifs and the painterly gestures of individual handwriting, the unique combination of prints, silkscreens, paintings, enamel and woodblock prints, which is on view here for the first time, make this exhibition a real sensation not only for the professional elite but also for the general public.

The exhibition will be open from 18 December 2021, every day (except Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
