Pécs is a Roman city, and as a result a wealth of artefacts has been unearthed during archaeological excavations in the area over the past decades. The permanent exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to discover the Early Christian period of Sopianae in the 4th century A.D. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to travel back in time: a 3D reconstruction allows visitors to take a walk through the city, as the forums, streets and squares of the period have been recreated by experts using the available sources. The life-size model of a hearse from the 2nd century, excavated in Kozármisleny, is also an interesting experience, and the most beautiful artefacts and utensils of ancient Sopianae will make you stay longer and contemplate. The bronze statue of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (found in Dunasekcsy) is a tribute to the talent of the artist of the period.
