Pantheon of the Martyrs of Arad

It was the idea of Sándor Dévényi, an architect from Pécs, to create the Pantheon of the Martyrs of Arad on the wide road opened up by the urban planning.

The portrait of Damjanich was the first to be completed, as the statues were not placed at the same time and their creators were different. However, they were all unveiled on 6 October. The 150th anniversary thus created a unique memorial site to commemorate the heroes of the 1848-49 War of Independence.
