All Saints’ Church

Built in the 12th century in Romanesque style, it is the oldest church in the city. In Pécs, the Turks only allowed the free practice of religion in this church.

It is surrounded by a walled enclosure, the walls of the former cemetery. It was already standing at the beginning of the 13th century, and during the conquest it remained the only Christian church, used jointly by Catholics, Reformed and Unitarians. In 1588 it was the scene of the Pécs Dispute, when the Reformed pastor Máté Skaricza and the Unitarian pastor György Válaszúti had their famous religious dispute here.
