History
Lajos Kossuth was once a Member of Parliament of Pécs, and was elected an honorary citizen of Pécs, among other cities.
After his death, statues were erected in his honour all over the country, including here on Kossuth Square. The statue, inaugurated on 10 May 1908, was created by János Horvay.
