Topic: music
The musical life of Pécs goes back several centuries; from the 19th century onwards, the cultivation of classical music was an integral part of the everyday life of the Pécs bourgeoisie, and the musical culture of Pécs was a fundamental demand at institutional level and in the lives of bourgeois families. On the thematic walk, initiated by the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra and organised by Irány Pécs NKft., participants will visit the musical monuments of the city centre, which will give them a comprehensive picture of Pécs' world-class musical past and the city's musical history. You'll discover where and how Béla Bartók, Anni Fischer and Jenő Jandó gave concerts, who Júlia Zsolnay played with on Sundays, who sang for Ferenc Liszt, and the history of the master's piano, which was hidden for decades in the building of the Klára Leöwey Gymnasium. The walk will be led by historian Gábor Tillai, who will enrich and round off the programme with his personal stories as well as his professional insights.
