Square 48

The square is one of the most important public spaces of Pécs, home to the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Pécs.

For a long time, the main road No. 48 was noisy because of the main road No. 6 passing by the square, which was reduced by the construction of an embankment and a noise barrier on the northern side of the square.

In the central part of the square, there is the Millennium Monument, the statue of Sándor Petőfi and the 56th anniversary monument.

The renovation of the square has created paths that connect to the main axis and border a friendly grove where "Stepping on grass is free". The high quality contemporary landscaping elements and solutions used in the park also blend well with the traditional space. The original trees behind the memorial are complemented by columnar oaks, and in autumn the reddening narrow-leaved young ash trees are particularly beautiful.
